Our people think that being Muslim only they have the certificate of Jannat. Not only Muslims many religion teach in this way. Jews also claim the salvation is reserved only for them.

I also faced the same. Once on thesudden death of one of my non-Muslim colleague I was sad and was praying for his salvation A person asked me not to pray for Salvation. Then he told me the reason that my prayer is useless because my colleague was non Muslim.
